Le Bac de la Varenne is a mid-20th-century callichromie reproduction (completed June 5, 1958), after the original work by Camille Pissarro—one of the founding figures of French Impressionism. Known for his quiet, observational scenes of rural life, Pissarro had a way of turning the everyday into something quietly luminous.

Here, a small ferry crosses calm water, connecting two banks of a gently unfolding landscape. Figures gather, wait, move—nothing dramatic, just the rhythm of daily life. The brushwork, faithfully translated through the callichromie process, retains that softness Impressionism is known for: edges blur, light diffuses, and the entire scene feels alive but unhurried.

This particular piece is number 87 from a limited run of just 170 prints, produced using a specialized technique designed to replicate the depth, texture, and tonal nuance of an original oil painting. It’s not a flat reproduction—it has presence.
