Daffodil Counter Stool (White Oak) Counter Stools

Inspiration

When I designed the Daffodil Counter Stool and Dining chair, I wanted to capture the understated elegance of nature—specifically, the graceful charm of a daffodil in bloom. The design began with the vision of a flower standing tall, its delicate petals arching outward, supported by slender yet sturdy stems. That balance of refinement and strength became the core inspiration.
The curved top rail mirrors the gentle arch of a daffodil petal—soft, inviting, and timeless. Below it, the spindles take on the form of the flower’s stems—slim, tapering, and arranged with intention to create a harmonious rhythm. The rounded knobs at the ends of the spindles were inspired by the dew drops that cling to flowers in the early morning, adding a touch of detail that feels both tactile and thoughtful.
The solid wood frame was designed to feel grounded, much like the roots of the flower itself—strong, and enduring. I kept the lines clean and minimalist to let the craftsmanship and material shine, much like the natural beauty of the daffodil speaks for itself.
The upholstered seat, wrapped in a soft performance linen fabric, was chosen for its organic texture and ability to endure everyday messes. It evokes the same serene, earthy feeling of a spring morning—a space of calm amidst the bustle of daily life.
For me, the Daffodil counter stool and dining chair aren’t just a functional pieces of furniture; they are a quiet tribute to the elegance and resilience of nature. It’s meant to bring a sense of lightness and beauty into everyday spaces, a reminder of how even the simplest things can brighten a room.
